Ruins

Found these on the Chinese website Temu.  3d printed, quality is 'ok', but not amazing.  However they were just a few quid, and came out rather nicely.

Primed white. Heavy wash with DIY black wash. Lots of moss and plants. Done :-)

Cactus

Had a friend 3d print these for me in resin. They came out really well.  But one of them snapped off and leaked resin, so after some time under a UV lamp to re-cure the stump, some water rinses, and a foam rock to hide it all, I was able to prime them.

Paint was white primer, Citadel dark green Contrast paint, then a good drybrush with a sandy tone. A sandy base finished them off with a little diluted brown wash here and there to break up the sand colour.  A medium sand colour did for the foam rock.
I'm really pleased with how they came out.

Spray Primer

Made an interesting discovery....

Plastikote Primer tends to dry rather shiny, a bit thick, and....well...'Plasticky'.  This has now left me several times with a model that is almost hydrophobic to Acrylics and been a pain to finish.

Hycote Primer spray cans on the other hand have proven to give a really good thin prime, with a nice matte finish and great tooth for subsequent layers.

 

Lesson learnt.....

Hycote for models.
Plastikote for craft projects !

Mine Entrance

A 3d printed Mine entrance for What a Cowboy skirmish game or any RPGs.

A simple grey primer, black paint, then light grey drybrush for the rocks.
A light brown then light grey to try and get that old silvered wood effect on the supports.
A little rust effect on the bolt plates.

Simple but good for fun games. Wont be used a vast amount, but nice to have in the collection.

Another cheap buy from Temu. 3d Print is 'good enough'.
Another wash with my DIY  'Nuln oil'  and lots of careful plants added.  Looks far better than it has any right to !

Well well well.

Well, its only one well, actually.

A little 3d print I made myself in a 3d design program.  Fun to do but very time consuming.  New respect for designers. 
Paint job came out 'well' enough for the table...(sorry).

Cart

A great model cart.  I liked the wood tones from the laser cutting so much, I skipped wet painting it, and simply added a careful heavy drybrush of grey then brown, and based it on sand.  Love how this came out.

Campfire

Great fun attempting this.  Small stones, tiny twigs, just glued into place on a 25mm base.
The fun part was looking at images of fire and trying to get the black wood, inner glow, reflected light, and flames all correct.

I think it came out ok.  

Mojo

Seriously lost my painting and modelling mojo for a long while....

Another big clean-up of the painting tray and re-org of my paints has finally got me back in the mood.
Did a little here and there, and really got my mojo back.  Been hammering away had a whole bunch of little projects I've had sitting around.
Will add progress as I get images.

3d Printed Rocks

Got some 3d prints of more rock formations.  Primarily for "What a Cowboy" games, but again can be for anything.
The low res printing meant some obvious striation lines, but a 50/50 mix of Modge Podge and Black paint heavily painted took out the worst of them. 
Once dried, a heavy grey drybrush finished them off for some quick and easy rocks :-)
